of plants, flowers, animals and minerals. She was busy with dietetics
every day.
As a feminist she had great influence in and managed several
monastic communities, she had written contact with ecclesiastical and
monarchs such as King Frederick and theologian Bernard of Clairvaux.
She became so influential that many people in high circles came to
her to ask for advice.
She helped shape the politics and society of the time. She practiced
both physical and mental medicine.
According to her, our environment is the hand of God. Her
knowledge of the medicinal effects of herbs and plants has been
extensively used until now. Hildegard cured people of all kinds of
diseases by helping them with her extensive knowledge about nutrition.
In order to promote her ideas and ideals, she wrote several books
on various topics, including nature and medicine. She was the first
composer in the history of classical music to be known by name.
In her work it becomes clear that everybody can and must develop
his or her qualities. One must not hide them, as Hildegard did not.
The divine perspective helped her always to keep her balance. (5)
I have greatly admired these women who have followed the path
that has led them to fulfill their mission in this life.
This woman was so closely connected to the earth, its riches and
the Cosmos, that there was no human power that could have defeated
her. That divine connection with her environment and her interior
helped her achieve the goals that elevated her and helped her to be a
pillar of support for a large part of humanity. Hildegard is a very good
example for any woman.
Hildegard spoke not only about the therapeutic effects of the
elements of nature, she always expressed with her beautiful wisdom
the effects that a plant or herb had on the body and soul: “Spelt makes
good blood, gives a clean mind and the gift of cheerfulness.”
