CHAPTER 5

                    THE MOST IMPORTANT
                      REGULATING SYSTEM

                              IN OUR BODY

The nervous system of the human body is its electrical wiring.
This is a combination of nerves and specialized cells called neurons.
Their function is to send signals between different parts of the body,
making it possible for one part to communicate with another. Without
these signals, the body would not be able to function. This system
             has to parts. (See fig.1.)

                 1. The central nervous system is made up of the brain and the
                    spinal cord and
                 2. The peripheral nervous system is made of branches (nerves)
that come out of the spinal cord and go everywhere in the
body. The peripheral nervous system is divided into Somatic
                    and Autonomic Nervous parts.
